Premio
Mobile Packaging & Interface Branding for Retail Impact
Challenge
Premio is a private-label mobile phone brand owned by the Ackermans retail group. When I came onto the project, the packaging had no real structure. Icons were generic or confusing. The overall look hurt consumer confidence at shelf level.
On top of that: tight timeline, no product photography, and branding that needed to work across packaging, retail displays, and the device interfaces themselves.
Approach
Packaging System
I built a modular grid to give the packaging clear, consistent hierarchy across the full product range. Typography got a proper structure. Each box reorganised into defined zones: brand, product name, key specs, and legal.
Custom Icons
Over 40 icons designed from scratch. Optimised for both print and screen. Technical specs readable at a glance across every pack format.
3D Visualisation
No photography meant no product shots. I produced detailed 3D product visualisations to show how the packaging would look and feel before anything went to print.
Device Branding
Animated start-up screens, original ringtones, and short video content. The brand held together right down to the user's first interaction with the phone.
Retail Displays
In-store specification displays designed to help customers compare products quickly at the shelf.
Result
Premio now has a consistent identity that runs from the retail shelf to the device screen. The packaging system is modular. Adding new products is straightforward without rebuilding from scratch. The custom icons and 3D renders cut down on production back-and-forth.
With brand elements built into the devices themselves, Premio sits more confidently in a crowded market with a solid foundation to grow on.
